Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), Konyak Union condemn Feb 28 killing

Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) and Konyak Union (KU) have condemned the recent killing of two GPRN/NSCN cadres at Phomching Town under Mon district on February 28.

In a press statement, ENPO president Pongom Khiamniungan said that ENPO was “pained” by the killing. ENPO said the incident was a “setback” to the efforts of a meaningful reconciliation amongst Naga political groups.

Stating that it condemned such acts, ENPO asserted that the killing was “violation” of December 18, 2007 Tuensang HQ resolution adopted by “ENPO, Eastern Naga National Workers Association (ENNWA) of the then undivided NSCN (K), ENNWU of NSCN (I-M), NNC/FGN of the 6 (six) regions of ENPO, federating tribal Units of ENPO and frontal organizations.”

Meanwhile, Konyak Union (KU), in a statement has also appealed to all factions to restrain from “such fratricidal/accusations”. While mourning the killing of two Konyak cadres of GPRN/NSCN, KU said that it expressed “total displeasure on NSCN (K) action”.

In a statement, KU president S. Khowang Konyak and joint secretary Y. Hosea Konyak said that KU at a meeting held at Mon on February 29 discussed the present “turmoil” in Nagaland, particularly in Mon district to assess the “ground reality”.

KU pointed out that NSCN (K) “higher authority” had already appealed to its armed cadres “not to fire upon any factions” as the reconciliation meeting was being organized at Dimapur. KU added that it seemed the armed cadres were not “respecting the higher “commands”.
