Houses gutted in Mon; nine families rendered homeless


In another major incident, nine families were rendered homeless at Youthrum colony of Chingkao Chingnyu Village in Mon District.  The fire occurred at 10:30 a.m on February 2.

According to a press note issued by the Chingkao Chingnyu Village Council nine houses, including a morung and waiting shed, are reported to have been completely razed to ashes.

Property worth approximately Rs 70 lakhs was destroyed and domestic animals were also burnt to death. At least three houses were dismantled by the villagers in order to avoid the fire from spreading further. There were no reports of causalities.

Deputy Commissioner Mon, Agnua I Thou and her staff visited the spot and the fire victims and took stock of the situation. K.B.B.B Mon, Yakshu Church, Wanching Baptist Church, Wangti Village Council also visited the fire victims.

Meanwhile Chingkao Chingnyu Village Council, Students’ Union, Baptist Bumeinok Church, CASK unit and Victim families has expressed gratitude to all pubic leaders, department, organizations, churches, well wishers and the neighbouring villagers who had assisted financially, materially, and physically to the fire victims on Febuary 2 when the fire renders nine families homeless at Youthrum Colony Chingkao Chingnyu Village Mon District.

The organizations and the families had thanked Chingkao Chingha Village and Wangti Village for rendering their service in collecting the raw materials and constructing the houses which is still on the process, MLA 45th Tehok, DC Mon, ADC Aboi, SDO Civil Mon, Project Director DRDA Mon, BDO Chen Block Mon, Konyak Baptists Bumeinok Bangjum, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong, Konyak Students’ Union, KU Unit Chen, Chen Area Sheko Khong, president KNSK, president VDB Association Chen Block, Wenching Baptist Bumeinok Church, Yakshu Baptist Bumeinok Church, Wangti Village Council and Baptist Bumeinok Church and Yannu Baptist Bumeinok Church.
