OST Centre launched at DH, Mon

Koku Mero, ADC, Mon, while speaking at the inaugural programme of Opioid Substitution Therapy Centre (OST) at District Hospital, Mon, on January 29 as guest of honour, he encouraged the Injecting Drug Users community to know the importance of the programme and avail the facilities for their own benefit. He further called upon the fellow citizens to understand the prevailing issues and take a positive response.

Dr. Rose, Consultant, CST, NSACS in his short speech on the role of key stakeholders, stated that there has been a substantial improvement on the life of drug users through OST with NGOs initiative, and therefore by seeing the effective implementation of the programme, the Government has now started at Government Health Centres to assure sustainability. Dr.Rose while acknowledging the community members, he urged the key stakeholders to extend their continual support to make the OST programme a model for others.

As part of the launching programme, four clients of TI NGO (Shansham Org.) based in Mon was administered with OST as the first batch. Earlier, Dr. Yanger, Nodal Officer, (OST) briefed on the introduction of OST concept in the district. Besides Community members, other key participants present in the meeting include Dr. Lemyei, Dy. Manager, DH, Mon, President, KNSK, MSF, CHAI, Nurses and well wishers.  The programme was chaired by Longyim Tzudir, District Prog. Officer, DAPCU, Mon while Dr. Igumpele, MO, (OST) concluded with a vote of thanks.
