Another Post-election results violence reported


"Miscreants damage water-pipeline supply to Mon town"

Normal water supply to Mon town and surrounding areas has been totally collapsed and disrupted due to damage of main pipeline by unknown miscreant soon after the declaration of election result on February 28 last.

In a press release, PHED Mon division executive engineer (EE) J. Mayangsashi Amer said at least three main pipelines have been damaged in certain locations, which included Sheangha Wamsa to main Reservoir 6” main pipeline, Chi and Leangha water source main pipeline.

According to EE, distribution pipeline at treatment plant was also blown up using explosive March 2.
EE said that repair works for the damaged pipeline could take a couple of weeks till the necessary materials were arranged and life of departmental staffs and properties were ensured.

PHED Mon division has requested all the right thinking citizens, public leaders, NGOs of Mon town to come forward and make an appeal to the miscreants to abstain from such heinous crime.

"PMGSY construction company camp vandalized"

In another post-poll results incident, A. Neangba Konyak class one contractor alleged that Congress party supporters, under 48 Moka A/C vandalized the PMGSY construction company camp, machineries and tools worth Rs.65 lakh belonging to him.

In a press release, the contractor A. Neangba Konyak said the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. March 1.

He said that construction of road was under PMGSY central project from Mon, Tuensang to Yei via Ukha-Yonghong.

He stated that attackers not only damaged properties but also warned the labourers of consequences if they continued with construction works.

Urging all right thinking citizens to condemn such act, the contractor also requested the responsible authority to initiate necessary action.
